I bought a new Gigabyte P35-DS3L mobo to replace a dead Biostar mobo. The current situation is under hardware device manager there's a ? mark for PCI device. Originally I had 1 pci controller card and 1 pci fireware card installed with all the drivers installed for them. But I continued to have a PCI device ? mark. Then I uninstalled all the pci cards from the pci slots. I still had the PCI device ? mark when there's nothing installed in any of the pci slots. I've never had that before on any of the computers I've built. Is this a defect on the mobo? I was suspicious about the mobo because I've never seen a mobo come in a antistatic bag with a piece of scotch tape on it. I'm wondering if the mobo was not a brand new spanking one.
I've already reinstalled xp pro and the problem still exists. I have another Gigabyte mobo the P35 DSR3 that has 2 pci slots used but I don't have that PCI Device ? mark in that computer. I'd hate to have to RMA the mobo back to Newegg but I don't wanna keep a mobo that's defective. I'd appreciate any comments/help. Thanks in advance!
